I have worked in mental health care since 1986 with 18 years of qualified mental health nurse experience. I have seen many changes in the provision of mental health care over this time and although great progress has been made in psychiatry, services have become less accessible for many.
Purple Daisy started as an idea, born out of a frustration with the rigidity of traditional mental health care and an awareness of the increasing gaps in the services.
Purple Daisy offers a new kind of service, we work with you to identify and work on your problems, at times and in places convenient to you. You are in charge of your care, we will guide and support your recovery.
We are not counsellors, we are nurses with many years’ experience in the NHS. We work holistically by integrating different therapy and nursing skills into our practice in order to provide a service which will suit your individual needs. We have developed skill sets which include talking therapy, solution focused therapy, behavioural therapy, medication awareness, CBT, DBT and action method approaches.
We see individuals of all ages. Children under the age of 16 are assessed with an accompanying parent or carer, but it is ultimately the child or young person who decides if they would like to work with us.
